Title: Book smart-Street smart: Not contrast anymore, but encounter and valorization of talents in the new school

Abstract: If with Multiple Intelligences Gardner (1983) theorizes the concept that there aremany types of intelligence and not a single one, it is with Sternberg (1985) thatthe concept of practical intelligence is clearly highlighted, in which we can insertthe so-called street intelligence, the one that lets you handle it in your life.Up to now, only the linguistic-literary and logical-mathematical intelligenceshave been emphasized at school, creating a sort of contrast between book smartand street smart.Starting from the idea, according to which every student (not just someone)owns talents, diversified on the basis of various types of intelligence, a gift thatmust be recognized and cultivated since childhood in order to become excellence, it will be necessary to include in the new school also the so-called street talent or street intelligence.Especially in today's 21st century society, with the Generation Y's Millennials, itis important to enhance the talents of all students. According to Margiotta (1997) and me, this will be possible by identifying their cognitive profile to work on, using the most recent results of neuroscientific research. With the consequent benefit of the exchange between school culture on the one hand, and popular culture on the other.

Abstract: Se con le intelligenze multiple Gardner (1983) teorizza il concetto secondo cuiesistono molti tipi di intelligenze e non un'unica intelligenza, è con Sternberg(1985) che si pone in netta evidenza il concetto di intelligenza pratica, in cui possiamo inserire la cosiddetta intelligenza di strada, quella che consente dicavarsela nella vita. Finora nella scuola sono state valorizzate soprattutto l'intelligenza linguistico-letteraria e logico-matematica, creando una sorta di contrapposizione tra l'intelligenza scolastica e quella di strada.Partendo dall'idea di talento che ogni studente (e non solo qualcuno) possiede,diversificato in base ai vari tipi di intelligenza, dono che deve essere riconosciutoe coltivato fin da piccoli perché possa esprimersi fino all'eccellenza, sarà necessario includere nella nuova scuola anche il talento o intelligenza di strada.Soprattutto nell'attuale società del XXI secolo, con la Generazione Y dei Millennials, è importante valorizzare i talenti di tutti gli studenti. Secondo Margiotta (1997) e me, ciò sarà possibile con l'identificazione del loro profilo cognitivo su cui lavorare, avvalendosi dei risultati più recenti della ricerca neuroscientifica. Con il conseguente beneficio derivante anche dallo scambio tra cultura scolastica da una parte e cultura popolare dall'altra.
