Title: Teacher training and 'scientific pedagogical thought': a teaching oriented by 'research winds'

Abstract: The purpose of this contribution is to examine the role that educational researchplays in teacher training. In fact, educational research, as an importantfactor in the development of teaching professionalism, occupies an importantplace in teaching-learning processes because it helps to make appropriatedecisions in specific classroom contexts and to innovate the educationalaction system. The importance of educational research, especiallyof empirical research, can not be ignored if we want to improve teachertraining and increase the quality of the education system as a whole, makingit increasingly fair, healthy and meaningful; therefore, the function of researchis rather broad and incisive for the growth and development of educationand society.
