Title: Educate for the future: develop sustainability competencies at the university level. The case of the university of Bari

Abstract: The Sustainable Development Goals (UN, 2015) demand a real cultural and in lifestyle change but also in how we think and act. In this process, education plays a key role, including at the university level. Knowledge is not enough. Even university education is called upon to reflect and reorganize its education offer by focusing on the development of key, transversal, and sustainability skills. After underlining the pedagogical meanings and perspectives of education for sustainable development at the university level, the contribution highlights the need to implement training courses for the development of sustainable, and transversal skills. The paper describes and analyzes the educational workshop experience implemented in the General and Social Pedagogy Course of the Degree Course in Literature of the University of Bari. During this educational experience, the students were able to reflect and design sustainability solutions for their universities, developing the skills necessary to start being citizens of complexity.
