Title: Why Teachers should Consider User Experience within Learning Management Systems: A Community of Inquiry Approach During COVID-19 Containment Measures

Abstract: Community of Inquiry (CoI) has been used noticeably to research and practice online and blended education, and in such contexts the Learning Management System (LMS) can profoundly affect learners' performances. Nevertheless, the choice of the most appropriate digital environment often leaves aside the user experience. A review of the available literature shows that usability has not been frequently investigated within the CoI, hence a bibliometric network analysis has been conducted to detect this feature in the research niche. By introducing the concept of affordance, it is possible to recognize the pre-existing status to Social and Cognitive Presence as qualities nested in the digital environment but capable to manifest only when learners act. Following an academic survey carried out during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy, Teaching Presence was examined within a Moodle-based university environment. Findings suggest that instructors should acknowledge educational and social affordances to incorporate them into instructional design.

Title: Perché i docenti dovrebbero considerare l'Esperienza Utente all'interno dei Sistemi di Gestione dell'Apprendimento: Un approccio basato sulla Community of Inquiry durante le restrizioni per il contenimento del COVID-19

Abstract: La Community of Inquiry è stata frequentemente adottata nella ricerca e nella didattica in contesti educativi online e ibridi, laddove il Sistema di Gestione dell'Apprendimento può condizionare le prestazioni dei discenti. Tuttavia, la scelta dell'ambiente digitale più adeguato spesso prescinde dall'esperienza utente. Una revisione della letteratura evidenzia che l'usabilità è stata considerata solo occasionalmente in questo contesto, pertanto, è stata condotta un'analisi bibliometrica per esaminare la mappatura delle parole chiave e i caratteri salienti dell'affordance circoscritti a quest'ambito di ricerca. L'adozione del concetto di affordance riconosce lo status preesistente alla Social Presence e alla Cognitive Presence come qualità nidificate nell'ambiente digitale, ma in grado di manifestarsi solo quando i discenti agiscono. Un'indagine condotta durante l'adozione delle restrizioni COVID-19 in Italia, consente di osservare la Teaching Presence in una piattaforma Moodle universitaria. I risultati suggeriscono che i docenti dovrebbero riconoscere le affordance educative e sociali per incorporale nella progettazione didattica.

Abstract: La communauté d'enquête (COI) a été sensiblement utilisée pour rechercher et pratiquer une éducation en ligne et mixte, et dans de tels contextes, le système de gestion de l'apprentissage (LMS) peut profondément affecter les performances des apprenants.Néanmoins, le choix de l'environnement numérique le plus approprié laisse souvent de côté l'expérience utilisateur.Une revue de la littérature disponible montre que l'utilisabilité n'a pas été fréquemment étudiée au sein de la COI, donc une analyse de réseau bibliométrique a été réalisée pour détecter cette caractéristique dans le créneau de recherche.En introduisant le concept d'accès, il est possible de reconnaître le statut préexistant de la présence sociale et cognitive comme des qualités imbriquées dans l'environnement numérique mais capable de se manifester uniquement lorsque les apprenants agissent.À la suite d'une enquête académique réalisée pendant le verrouillage de Covid-19 en Italie, la présence de l'enseignement a été examinée dans un environnement universitaire basé à Moodle.Les résultats suggèrent que les instructeurs devraient reconnaître les offres éducatives et sociales pour les intégrer dans la conception pédagogique. Abstract: La Comunidad de Investigación (COI) se ha utilizado notablemente para investigar y practicar la educación en línea y combinada, y en tales contextos el Sistema de Gestión de Aprendizaje (LMS) puede afectar profundamente el rendimiento de los alumnos.Sin embargo, la elección del entorno digital más apropiado a menudo deja de lado la experiencia del usuario.Una revisión de la literatura disponible muestra que la usabilidad no se ha investigado con frecuencia dentro del COI, por lo tanto, se ha realizado un análisis de red bibliométrica para detectar esta característica en el nicho de investigación.Al introducir el concepto de asequibilidad, es posible reconocer el estatus preexistente de la presencia social y cognitiva como cualidades anidadas en el entorno digital pero capaz de manifestar solo cuando los alumnos actúan.Tras una encuesta académica realizada durante el cierre de Covid-19 en Italia, la presencia docente se examinó dentro de un entorno universitario basado en Moodle.Los resultados sugieren que los instructores deben reconocer las posibilidades educativas y sociales para incorporarlos en el diseño educativo.
