Title: The Myth of Childhood in the Kalevala: A Case of Formative Fatalism in Finnish Cultural Heritage
Abstract: The Kalevala, the quintessential Finnish epic poem, hosts a unique repertoire of episodes related to a 'mythological' conception of childhood. This makes it a fruitful target for the study of informal education connected with cultural heritage. After establishing how the latter constitutes the keystone for the study of informal learning processes, this contribution adopts the perspective of Greater Humanities for Education to conduct a thematic analysis of the instances in the Kalevala concerning childhood—taking into account the empirical, historical, hermeneutic, and ethical-moral dimensions of the literary phenomenon in question. The resulting case study reveals a multifaceted concept of childhood, alternating between deficient conceptions and forms of exceptionalism. From the articulations of this concept emerges a folk theory of education which in this contribution is dubbed formative fatalism. The study inductively derives the three pillars of formative fatalism drawing on the Kalevala: (i) intergenerational determinism (history); (ii) quasi-determinism of tradition; (iii) formative idiosyncrasy of individual existential paths. Given the extensive heritage status of the Kalevala and its role in shaping Finnish collective identity, the study concludes by reflecting on how this fatalism can be reconciled with the more progressive aspects of contemporary Finnish society.

Title: Il mito dell'infanzia nel Kalevala: Un caso di fatalismo formativo nel patrimonio culturale finlandese
Abstract: Il Kalevala, poema epico finlandese per eccellenza, ospita un repertorio singolare di episodi riferiti a una concezione 'mitologica' dell'infanzia. Ciò lo rende un proficuo ambito di applicazione per uno studio dell'educazione informale in connessione al patrimonio culturale. Dopo aver stabilito come quest'ultimo costituisca la chiave di volta per lo studio dei processi informali di apprendimento, il presente contributo adotta la prospettiva dell'Umanesimo Metropolita per l'Educazione [Greater Humanities for Education] allo scopo di condurre un'analisi tematica delle istanze del Kalevala riguardanti l'infanzia che tenga conto delle dimensioni empirica, storica, ermeneutica ed etico-morale del fenomeno letterario in questione. Lo studio di caso che ne deriva mostra un concetto poliedrico di infanzia, che alterna concezioni deficitarie a forme di eccezionalismo. Dalle articolazioni di tale concetto emerge una teoria folk della formazione che in questo contributo è ribattezzata fatalismo formativo. A conclusione dell'elaborato, si ricavano induttivamente i tre pilastri del fatalismo formativo del Kalevala: (i) il determinismo intergenerazionale (storia); (ii) il quasi-determinismo della tradizione; (iii) l'idiosincrasia formativa dei percorsi esistenziali individuali. Vista l'ampia patrimonializzazione del Kalevala e il suo ruolo nella formazione dell'identità collettiva finlandese, si conclude riflettendo su come tale fatalismo possa coniugarsi con gli aspetti più progressisti della società finlandese contemporanea.

Title: Le mythe de la maternelle à Kalevala: un cas de fatalisme formatif dans le patrimoine culturel finlandais
Abstract: Le Kalevala, un poème épique finlandais par excellence, héberge un répertoire singulier d'épisodes faisant référence à une conception «mythologique» de l'enfance.Cela en fait un domaine d'application fructueux pour une étude de l'éducation informelle en relation avec le patrimoine culturel.Après avoir établi comment ce dernier constitue la clé de voûte de l'étude des processus d'apprentissage informel, cette contribution adopte la perspective du méthanisme pour l'éducation à l'éducation [des grandes sciences humaines pour l'éducation] afin de procéder à une analyse thématique des instances de kalévala concernant l'enfance qui prend en compte les dimensions littéraires historiques, herméneutiques et éthiques.L'étude de cas qui en tire montre un concept d'enfance à multiples facettes, qui alterne les conceptions déficitaires aux formes d'exceptionnalisme.D'après les articulations de ce concept, une théorie folklorique de l'entraînement émerge qui, dans cette contribution, est renommée Fatalisme de l'entraînement.À la fin de l'élaboration, les trois piliers du fatalisme formatif de Kalevala sont obtenus induly: (i) le déterminisme intergénérationnel (histoire);(ii) le presque terminisme de la tradition;(Iii) L'idiosyncrasie de formation des chemins existentiels individuels.Compte tenu de la large patrimonalisation de Kalevala et de son rôle dans la formation de l'identité collective finlandaise, il se termine en réfléchissant à la façon dont ce fatalisme peut se combiner avec les aspects les plus progressistes de la société finlandaise contemporaine. Abstract: El Kalevala, poema épico finlandés por excelencia, alberga un repertorio singular de episodios relacionados con una concepción 'mitológica' de la infancia. Esto lo convierte en un ámbito fructífero para el estudio de la educación informal en conexión con el patrimonio cultural. Tras establecer cómo este último constituye la clave de bóveda para el estudio de los procesos informales de aprendizaje, el presente artículo adopta la perspectiva del Humanismo Metropolita para la Educación [Greater Humanities for Education] con el fin de realizar un análisis temático de las instancias del Kalevala relativas a la infancia que tenga en cuenta las dimensiones empírica, histórica, hermenéutica y ético-moral del fenómeno literario en cuestión. El estudio de caso resultante muestra un concepto poliédrico de la infancia, que alterna concepciones deficitarias con formas de excepcionalismo. De las articulaciones de dicho concepto emerge una teoría popular de la formación que en este artículo se denomina fatalismo formativo. A modo de conclusión, se derivan inductivamente los tres pilares del fatalismo formativo del Kalevala: (i) el determinismo intergeneracional (historia); (ii) el cuasi-determinismo de la tradición; (iii) la idiosincrasia formativa de los caminos existenciales individuales. Dada la amplia patrimonialización del Kalevala y su papel en la formación de la identidad colectiva finlandesa, se concluye reflexionando sobre cómo dicho fatalismo puede conciliarse con los aspectos más progresistas de la sociedad finlandesa contemporánea.

Abstract: O Kalevala, poema épico finlandês por excelência, abriga um repertório singular de episódios relacionados a uma concepção 'mitológica' da infância. Isso o torna um campo fértil para o estudo da educação informal em conexão com o patrimônio cultural. Após estabelecer como este último constitui a chave de abóbada para o estudo dos processos informais de aprendizagem, o presente artigo adota a perspectiva do Humanismo Metropolita para a Educação [Greater Humanities for Education] com o objetivo de realizar uma análise temática das instâncias do Kalevala relativas à infância, levando em consideração as dimensões empírica, histórica, hermenêutica e ético-moral do fenômeno literário em questão. O estudo de caso resultante revela um conceito multifacetado de infância, que alterna concepções deficitárias com formas de excepcionalismo. Das articulações desse conceito emerge uma teoria folk da formação que neste artigo é denominada fatalismo formativo. Como conclusão, derivam-se indutivamente os três pilares do fatalismo formativo do Kalevala: (i) o determinismo intergeracional (história); (ii) o quase-determinismo da tradição; (iii) a idiossincrasia formativa dos caminhos existenciais individuais. Dada a ampla patrimonialização do Kalevala e seu papel na formação da identidade coletiva finlandesa, conclui-se refletindo sobre como esse fatalismo pode se reconciliar com os aspectos mais progressistas da sociedade finlandesa contemporânea.
